24-hour support and advice for all media issues including emergencies
Communications support can often be something schools don’t realise they need, until a media issue arises and journalists are at the school gates. The Council’s award-winning Communications Team will help you deal with real and potential media issues, supporting you through the crisis by protecting your school’s reputation and enabling your staff to get on with their day job.
If you are faced with a media issue, our team provides support and guidance on what you should and shouldn’t say to journalists, and works with you to devise the best responses to their enquiries. With the potential for your phone to ring off the hook, our team of experts can step in to handle any calls you receive from the press and broadcasters, working with you to ensure that your school is well represented and that your staff are not left unsupported to man the phones. From the earliest sign that a situation in your school could develop into a problem or news story, we can help you prepare in advance, so you’re ready if the story breaks. Our team can also work with members of your senior management team to prepare for media interviews – from how to act on camera to getting your key messages across. We operate an emergency out of hours service, giving you 24-hour telephone access to a communications professional should you need it.
